Fast-food, Chainsaws, and rain

This is going to be scrabbled because I have a few things to say. So we are in Fairbanks this week enjoying ourselves probably a little too much when it comes to food. I swear I have gained like 5-10 lbs this week alone. I can't stop drinking pop EVERYDAY sometimes more than once a day and I feel so sick! But fast food and pop are so very tasty! I have a doctor appointment this Friday to see how my foot and arm are healing up. I can't wait... I hope they tell me I don't need the boot at all anymore and if I do I hope I get a new one because mine has fallen to pieces! It is rainy here which sucks because the trees are so beautiful right now and we can't really get out to enjoy them. The rain also makes me more nervous when we're driving (I say more because I am always terrified in moving vehicles now). We will be going Friday and Saturday to stock up on food for as long as we can... does anyone know if you can freeze eggs? Weird question I know but we have to freeze everything so it will stay fresh. Mom and Eric are coming to visit this next week and we are all excited! Visitors yay! Someone else will get to see our tiny village so maybe it will seem real (not like we're on vacation). We are going to make Thanksgiving dinner (a little early ay?) and I'm going to invite the other teachers over. I can't wait it should be fun. We will have Turkey, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, green bean cass, and maybe a fresh duck or two?! If anyone has some suggestions for adding to the menu I would love to hear it! Oh and speaking of our Village... look who was on the front page of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner! (you'll have to copy and paste it)

Well, I can check one more thing off my bucket list, now...I took the entire High School (well, 7 out of 9 kids) out for a rather impromptu camping trip...deep into bear country. I had to carry an unchambered but loaded gun everywhere, and the three boys brought their guns. Saw some fresh bear crappers about fifteen feet from our campsite. Went walking at dusk and made moose calls (the rifle was chambered then, in case a grizzly thought we were pretty good at calling and wanted to eat a calf). Saw the northern lights at 1am, but it was just a white-green rainbow...no dancing or colors (the colder the better!). It got below freezing, but I wasn't cold at all because we had a stove running inside the tent...in fact, it was TOO hot and smoky for my taste...The kids stayed up to 4 am (my fault! I was the leader of this thing) and we went moose hunting at 5! I was exhausted...Saw nothing but tracks and bear crap everywhere! Had a blast just walking around the Alaskan wilderness, though, right near a lake and surrounded by white trees. Moose don't taste very good after September, so hopefully I'll get out the last weekend with my rifle and get one! I'll tell you about it then! Getting the students to break up camp was tough, and then we spend the day with the entire school near our campsite...ate some more King Salmon (yum!) and heard an elder from the village talk...I am completely exhausted from chopping down trees with axes, though! Off to Fairbanks this week!

Camera battery :(

So I lost my battery charger to my new camera! I can't find it anywhere and I can't find the same thing online either. We are going to Fairbanks for a week on Saturday and I hope to find one then. That is why there isn't any new posts... I can't post pictures with them. :( We went berry picking and it died soon after I started taking pictures of the kids! I will post that story as soon as I get my camera charged. Also, tomorrow Joe is going camping with the high school kids. He was put in charge yesterday and has had last night and today to plan for it. As we speak they are probably cutting fire wood or digging holes for the "bathroom". He will stay overnight tomorrow and most of thursday just him, the high school kids, and some woman. Hope he doesn't get eaten by a bear! I hope all is well with everyone and I promise as soon as I get my camera up and running I will get back to posting!
